London: We will never be defeated

I am at a loss for words as to what is going on in the world today.  Really am.

I accept that atrocities happen on a daily basis across the world at the moment, but nothing really hits home until it happens in your own country.  Everything that happens is unacceptable and must, somehow, be stopped.

I don’t know or even pretend to understand the reasons behind why these people are doing what they are doing to people around the world.  I’ve read what they have said but still can’t fully understand why.  That may just be me, I am somewhat detached from the world of religion as I follow none, but when the battle turns to ordinary, everyday people; it must be stopped.

We’ve had Manchester, we’ve had two attacks on London bridges and now we have Finsbury Park.

Why?  Can anyone tell me the answer?

What are a group of individuals coming out from their prayers at midnight on a Sunday – what exactly were they going to do, what was their threat?  I just don’t understand.

All I know is, like so many others, I am deeply saddened by it all.  So many families and friends have lost loved ones due to these mindless attacks.  I am hugely proud to be English and I think the reaction and support given by an entire nation is astounding.  We will not ever be divided and we will stand by any country in solidarity and support against these cowards.

Winston Churchill:

“This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never — in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

Ahem, did you say Champions!?

Ok, while I’ve been away a lot has happened in the world. I’ll probably get.on to that later on at some point but right now I want to address the sphere of football. Do you remember my obsession from way back when? No?? Really?? Shocking… does this help??

Yep. That’s my team. And do you know what happened a couple of weeks ago?! That’s right, we were crowned EFL League 2 Champions!!! Yeah baby!!
You may not be a football fan but you can at least be happy for me and the city of Portsmouth! It caps a four year battle to get out of the bottom league of the EFL. It’s lucky I don’t have hair otherwise I would have been tearing it out!!
After dropping from the Premier League to League two in a space of 4/5 years, falling faster than a fat bloke on a bouncy castle…
It seems like things are on the up… we have an ex-CEO of Disney looking to buy us out and insert some cash into the club. Whilst it sounds like you’d snap their hand off for cash, we’ve done such a good job as a fan owned, and saved, club, it’s hard to trust any potential buyer without a strong sense of trepidation. We’ll see what happens there, I think voting has just closed…
Anyway, this may be a sign of the future… I may end up writing more about football, but hopefully I won’t bore you too much!
I hope you can join me in the celebrations that I’ll be having over the summer in pompey’s honour!
Play Up Pompey, Pompey Play Up!!

Update No. 1: Work Sucks

Now, you may remember me, a while ago I agree, having a bit of a whinge about my job? Well, not much has changed….

I can’t remember where I was working the last time we spoke (listen to me, talking like you’re actually here…) but in my current department it’s the same.  I work in an office and the pettiness here is…… mindblowing!

It’s like being back at school – squabbles here, gossiping there, fist fights…… ok, not quite. But only because I’ve been extremely restraint.

Now – is it just my workplace this happens in?  Do you have childish colleagues that you wish to punch??  Surely it’s not normal is it??

My boss.  What can I say that’s polite….  did you ever get ‘blanked’ when at school, when you’ve pee’d off a friend and they have the hump?  That’s what he does to me.  Walks straight past me and doesn’t say a word.  Ignores me in meetings.  I can’t even think what I’ve done to provoke such a response.

Does that constitute bullying in the workplace??

“No Win, No Fee……..” Hmmm

Work-Mentality

Hellllooooo, is it me you’re looking for??

Hello, my darling people!  How are you all doing?  Good,  I hope.

Right, let’s get it out of the way….. I’m sorry.  Really, really sorry.  I shouldn’t have left and not said a word, or even written.  I can only apologise.  Can you forgive me??

…….

I take your silence as a yes!

Well, now I am back, what do you want to know?  A lot has changed.  In my life and also in the world as a whole.  Donald Trump – who saw that coming??

Big thing with me is that I am in a new relationship.  My two kids are fine and happy, but their mother was a pain….. we’ve moved on.  I am now the happiest I have been in many many years.  She has changed me a lot.  Importantly, I can now drive!  And it was all thanks to my new beau, and it is made known who was responsible at least on a weekly basis….

backbaby

So, why am I back?  Why not?  I was lucky enough for some people to read what I had to say and stayed around while I was taken away by the … erm … fairies??  Either way, I still have a lot to say and feel this is the ideal place to do it.  The sense of the blog won’t change as it is still just me rambling most of the time, and as ever I welcome anyone to chat to me like they used.  I’ve missed this place!

Thank you for sticking with me.  I’ll try and hang around this time!

First of the year…

Hello Party People!!

Well, I hope all you people out there who enjoyed a tipple at New Year’s have successfully made it through the obligatory hangover!  Shame on you!  That’s called binge drinking, you know….

Anyway, I’m back and one of the resolutions this year is to be a bit more proactive on this blog, so if you have enjoyed reading my ramblings hopefully you’ll enjoy it a bit more.  If you haven’t liked it so far, best you block me on facebook and twitter, because the updates will be more frequent!  Time permitting of course.

Talking of resolutions, have you made any this year?  Do you plan on sticking to them?

I have included the essential ‘lose weight’ factor but that is one I actually intend to stick to, since the gratifying sense of achievement from last year.  You may recall that I might of mentioned I lost a bit?  Well, it made me proud, I managed to lose three and a half stone in six months and I want to keep that going.  I want to be thin again!  Well, ish…

Anyway, that’s me and I’m planning on sticking around so I hope you will join me again for another year.

Happy New Year to all my followers and readers, old and new.  I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

J.

Happy New Year

Dear Baldy…

Now, this is a serious question.

I don’t want any sniggers, derisory laughter or pointing.  Understand?

Right, to all the baldy people (or anybody with an opinion), at which stage of the showering or general bathing procedure, do you admit to not needing shampoo anymore?

……

Look, see, I told you, stop laughing!!  This is a perfectly serious question…….

I can admit that the follicles on my head have all decided to take a permanent holiday and are leaving one by one, but in an attempt to keep them a bit longer, I shave my head so as to delay them.  Like hiding their shoes or chopping their feet off….

Anyway, what is the purpose of shampoo to that of a balding gentleman?  Can I not just switch to using shower gel instead?  Surely that’s the same affect?  I don’t know, hence why I ask.

To all you that chuckled, beware.  Baldness can happen to anybody, it could even affect someone in your family.  It’s perfectly natural and part of growing up.

And besides, it can be fun to slap some people….

200 and still going!

So, here we are, my 200th post!

Ok, not really a big deal to anybody but me, but I never thought I’d last this long.  yes, I don’t post as regular as I should and it’s not always that interesting, but hey, I’m still here and so are you lovely lot, so I must be doing something right!

Anyway, for this post I thought I’d share the latest milestone.

My boy, the other day, called me Dada.

*sniff*  *wipes tear from eye*

Yep, proud daddy over here.  He’s, what, eight months old and has only just started trying to form words and sentences.  Well guess what world, dada was one of his first noises/grunts!

I completely disregard any other noises that may have come before and may have resembled other words.  No Mummy, this ones mine!

Well done boy, keep rocking out!!

The Boy!And as an extra offering, the wonderful people WilderSoul have generously pointed me to their free pictures, from their colouring book, for readers to download and enjoy.  There are some really nice pictures to choose from, please stop by when you’ve finished reading!

Thank you, to everybody that has read and even followed my random mutterings.  It’s been a jumbled journey thus far, but I’ve enjoyed doing it and I hope you enjoy at least some of my randomness!

Thank you people.  J.

OMG. The Pig is back!

I have voiced my concerns before on this subject.  You may recall.

I have aired my concerns over a certain animated pig and how evil and disruptive I think it is.  I still believe that the message being sent out by one Peppa Pig and her sidekick George, has dastardly intentions set on making other people’s lives a misery.

I still have stains on my carpet due to the incessant nagging of the pig family to jump in muddy puddles.  I have not forgotten.

However, I thought that I had managed to outlive the pig as now the daughter is three, she has moved on to other disruptive influences.  A child that believes she’s a doctor leading me to think that one day I’m going to return home to a living room full of stuffing and dismembered limbs.  Yes, you Doc McStuffins.

Or this boy Jake and his pirates.  Is it really a good message to give young children that a stick is a sword?  Really?  You’ve obviously never been beaten with one.

Don’t get me started on the monkey that lives in the apartment…. jeez…

Anyway, as I say, the pig is back onto my TV screen.  It turns out that the appeal of said pork by-product reaches young boys too.  Yep, my little boy is now watching the dreaded thing.  I only put it on because it gives me five minutes peace.  If it was only five minutes…..  Why do they insist on putting 27 episodes on in one go?  Maybe it’s their break too….

But you know what’s even worse?!  Can you guess?  No?  Well…

What makes it worse is that it is the same episodes as before!  Yes, the years worth of Peppa Pig episodes I had to endure the first time, are back but this time I know what’s coming!  I tell you, if I had hair I’d be ripping it out!!

I’ve got to get him interested in something else.  Too young for Postman Pat, don’t like Fireman Sam and Thomas the Tank Engine will not be on in my house…. Ever.

A Little Help, Dear Readers…..

Just a quickie…

I am nearing the big 200 post mark and wondered whether I should do anything in particular to mark this momentous occasion?

Do you have any ideas as to what I should do?  Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I’m surprised I’ve lasted this long, infrequent as I am, and have managed to attract such a following.  I know a lot of people just come for my dry wit……………………. ahem, moving on.

I have contemplated giving up this blog in recent times, if only for the times I don’t post anything for long periods.  I don’t know, maybe I’ll reassess after the 200…..

What should I write about?  Should I just find a funny picture?

Aaaaahhh the decisions!!
